Some of the other lyrics are perfectly good stand-alones. The knife/fork/spoon might be called the 'unique and fun' portion ; nah. It's a shitty line in anotherwise great flowing song. Everytime I hear the line (playing the damn thing 10 times a day for a week)... I stop and think "How cheap is this damn song if 1. they aren't rythming it right 2. the knife/fork/spoon has been called a bad 'drug metaphor.' ~~~TRIVIA LOVE SPIT LOVE (not: love sick love) is the primary people from Psychadelic Furs AlsoKnownAs _RKO_ & AKA _radio_. Made famously mainstream by 'Pretty in Pink' , potentially inspiring the movie (according to wikipedia contributors who say the song came first and was an English hit). The furs were a great band for college radio and a raspy selection for the village karaoke people. You can view a very good tribute to the television show , The Waltons, with this song HERE. LOVE SPIT LOVE covered 'how soon is now' which became used for Charmed -or- Angel or whatever the hell trendy sitcom of supernaturalism is on at 2am these days. It must have totally sucked to cover The Smiths when the original was perfectly wiked on its own. Must have sucked to cover a British contemporary like that. Some argue that the Furs are/were bigger than The Smiths and vice versa. We have all met the odd chick that knows what Morrisey eats on a Wednesay morning... but I never heard that yet about the Butler brothers. c'est tout bien

Really love your post the songs a keeper. Thanks for that. Note the first few lines: Theres too much That I keep To myself Hey the YouTube with the Waltons is nice btw. Helps to empathize with the song. I gotta agree about the lyrics. Maybe its just that you mention them, but they DO stick out. Knife? Fork spoon.. er, no. The rest of the lyrics are nice. Theme: Lay the blame on luck. So where do cutlery come in? Im no musician; I have all the respect in the world for the band. I cant do that. But hey if this is a contest, Ill throw some lyrics out. Heres this entry - Im so tired Of this mood And sleep comes Welcome respite over Jude (St. Jude - patron of lost causes performes miracles for the hopeless.)
